‘Ransomware attack’ draws questions in Bernards Township
BERNARDS TWP. – Two weeks after a “ransomware attack” took down the township’s computer network, the municipal web site was nearing total restoration using backup data, officials said at the virtual Township Committee meeting on Tuesday, May 26.
“We were able to restore all our system,” said Township Administrator Pat Monaco. “No one got our stuff. We have all of our data. It’s just a time-consuming process – it took almost a week to get the material copied and sent to us.”
“IT, he added, referring to the township’s Information Technology Department, “has been working around the clock to get this all restored and up in place. We hope to be 100 percent in the next two to three days.”
