Hackers obtain 2,000 Carson City water customer’s personal information
CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Two thousand Carson City residents have had their personal information stolen, following a hack of the city’s water bill payment system.
According to the Carson City Manager’s Office, those that have been impacted will be receiving a letter from city officials.
Staff said the breach was through an unauthorized code on the Click2Gov payment site developed by CentralSquare Technologies.
It captured information between August 1 and September 12 of last year. The company is working with the city to fix the problem.
